The Business of a Coomputer Repair (Updated)

In this article I’ll be sharing the things when you are wanting to becoming a computer repair person. These are just my thinking and thoughts of a computer repair. First thoughts, you want to make a business and maybe want to make your own computer repair store. There are some pros and cons about doing your own store and being at home and getting calls. The other thing is when you got customers and how to deal with them. Don’t be scared to tell your customer that you can’t fix the situation and maybe consider of buying a new computer.

You are in school and learning to become a computer repair person. Very important, be in school and learn as much as you can because you will have competitors. Go out and fix computer to have experience so you get use to repairing computers. Go door to door asking if you can fix their computers. Even fix your siblings computer or family members or another way is call up some company asking them and also saying you could even fix it for free. The company will say yes if they need an IT person for some problem they are having and if you did fix the computer you will get compliments and could even get hired again.

You are now in the business and done with school. You are now deciding which you should start your own store or consider working at home. Before you want to start a store, think that you have to pay bills for electricity, decorations, paying off the store and for workers that help you. In the beginning when you are just starting you probably have no workers which means you have to be at the front desk counter the whole time because you never know when the customers are coming. Then you hire a worker to be at the counter and you have to pay that person. You will have to deal with hours for your store, buy the entire products and maybe paint your store and making a sign outside the store. All of this could cost you over $20,000. What are the reasons for working at home, well you don’t have to deal with a lot of bills like starting a store. People can call you and you can go to them or they can drop it off at your house.

Now comes the billing part of the business. When you are billing the customer, you should think of them paying one fee for all the work you’ve done like $100 even as little as adding a stick of ram or go with couple of fees for the type you are doing like adding stick or ram for $50 and $100 for a full restore. The thing that you should think is will your customers pay for diagnostics or not. Diagnostics can be a big part because you find the problem and tell them and you say do you want it fixed or not, they could be like “oh that’s it, I could just do it at home.” You just lost your energy of finding the problem and now you get no money because they now know the problem and could just fix it themselves. Letting them pay for just checking the problem is good because it tells you that they will be willing to fix it or not and still you are getting money. If you are working at home and if you go over to them you should charger for just going over to them because you are using gas and your time.

Don’t every think that you can do everything that someone ask you. If you work on PC but not on Mac then consider calling up and making a deal with some store that works on Mac and tell them that if I send a customer to you guys for a Mac then they send you a PC customer. This can be great because people can recognize your store and get more customers.

You probably now know a little about a computer repair person. You should have an idea of what you want to do now like store hours, should you work at home or start a store. Remember that there are pros and cons at what you do and think wisely at what you are doing. Anything bad can ruin your reputation as well. Don’t be scared to tell your customer you can’t fix the problem. Another thing to consider is that you can’t do all the stuff that they ask you.
